Be a Pineapple

As a child, most everyone dreamt of being something special when they grew up. Most of us wanted to grow up to be rich or famous and beautiful. Somehow, beginning from childhood, we convinced ourselves that superficial events were what would make each of us “special”. Suddenly, it seemed that being bigger and better was always on our minds. We began to look for something to make us stand out, yet allows us to remain part of the in crowd at the same time. Eventually we began to believe and constantly tell ourselves that we were not good enough unless we met these unrealistic societal standards that dictated what was special and unique.

Why do you suppose we do this to ourselves? Have we forgotten that the very thing that makes each of us individually unique is also what makes each of us different and special as well? Have we forgotten that beauty isn’t and shouldn’t be defined by what the world sees or thinks?

What do you see when you look in the mirror? Are you happy? If not, ask yourself why you are not happy with the reflection staring back at you. Then, consider what you can change, what you cannot, but most importantly, what you are willing to change. If you change what makes you who you are, what are you really giving to the world? To your family and friends?  Everyone has flaws, shortcomings, and imperfections! Did you know that there is not a single person on the face of this earth that is perfect? You might see a pretty girl, or a rich couple who seem to have it all and you think, “Man, I wish that was me”. But cautiously remember that What you see on the outside is not always what is going on inside.

There is a unique saying about pineapples that can be used as great life inspiration, “Be a pineapple: Stand Tall, wear a crown, and be sweet on the inside”. Let’s look at this cutesy quote a bit deeper.

Stand Tall: Stand tall and proud of who you are. Do not let anyone try to make you be anything outside of your true character nor make you feel like you are anything less than fabulous!
Wear A Crown: Why not? You are fabulous and fabulous women wear crowns, don’t they? Jokes aside, wear a crown, simply means that you are setting the tone for how others perceive you and interact with you. If you have high standards for yourself then others will treat you that way as well. Be good to yourself always!
Be Sweet on the Inside: You have all heard the saying “beauty is only skin deep” right? Well that is not true! Being a beautiful person inside shines through and is personified outside through your words and actions.

The point I am trying to make is, BE WHO YOU ARE! Don’t let the world define who you should be. Love yourself before you can expect (expecting) the world to love you. And it is ok if there some out there that won’t like you. If the entire world were to like you, it would be safe to say you are not being your true self! YOU SET THE STANDARD OF WHAT MAKES YOU WHO YOU ARE!
