When you and your friends are separated by going to
different schools or taking different classes it can be hard to maintain the
close bond you’ve created. Here are some ways to help you keep in touch with
old pals.
There are plenty of ways to communicate with people. You can
call, text, Facebook and Skype your friends to keep each other updated on
what’s going on. Make a schedule with your friends to Skype or call at a
certain time every week. If you haven’t spoken to a friend in a long time,
don’t be afraid to reach out. Even when you get busy make sure you take the
time to let your friends know you are thinking about them. They will definitely
appreciate it. Don’t sit around waiting for them to come to you and don’t get
discouraged if they don’t have time to talk or don’t respond to you right away.
They’re busy too and if they’re a good friend, they will make sure they get in
touch with you.
Ask them to hang out! Even if it has been a long time since
you’ve seen each other or even spoken to each other, ask them if they want to
come over or decide on a day to go do something fun. One of the greatest things
about having those best friends is that you don’t have to talk every day to be
best friends. You pick back up right where you left off. Sometimes it’s
actually good if you don’t see each other for a while because when you do, you
actually have things to talk about.
If your friend has a lot going on, don’t take it personally.
They still care about you and want to see you too. Instead of getting mad at
them for blowing you off, ask them what’s got them so busy. They might be
working through some tough stuff and actually need you to just listen for right
now.
Never hesitate to take that first step to reconnecting with your
friends. If you really value each other’s friendship, you will find a way to
stay in touch and let each other know that you are still there for each other.
