Winter is fast approaching and as the weather turns colder,
we tend to spend more time inside. I don’t know about you, but I definitely
prefer to have some outdoor fun options so I tend to get bored pretty easily
during the winter. That’s why I’ve compiled this list of fun indoor activities
to do with family and friends!
1.
Movie Night: A classic of course! Have everyone
grab a movie, make some popcorn and make the living room extra comfy with a
collection of blankets and pillows.
2.
Game Night: I could have a whole separate blog
post about games but I’ll just try to condense it with a few ideas to get you
going. Card games: 31, Go Fish, Uno, Rummy. Board Games: Cranium, Scene It, Monopoly,
Sorry, Life, Scrabble, Taboo. Video games: Most Wii games are made for
groups and anything on the Xbox Kinect and Playstation Move can keep you off
the couch when outdoor play is limited. Miscellaneous: Hide and Seek, Charades,
ping pong, air hockey, foosball, Minute to Win It games, Dominoes.
3.
Photo Shoot: Get dressed up and take some silly
photos.
4.
Scavenger Hunt: Pick things around the house or
your neighborhood or town, split up into teams, and be the first one to collect
everything and make it back to the start to win.
5.
Cooking Show: Challenge your parents to a
competition like Chopped or Iron Chef. Anyone that doesn’t compete is a judge.
You can even add a narrator and film it if you’d like.
6.
International Night: Pick a country that maybe
you want to learn more about. Get into the theme by dressing like people in
that country would, find a recipe of a food that’s unique to that country to
make, and speak the language if you can.
7.
Improv: There are tons of improv games out there
and they are so much fun. They really stretch your ability to think on your
feet and speak in front of people. If you’re looking for a really good laugh,
improv is the way to go. Everyone has to commit and dig deep to get into
character. Remember no one is there to judge you. Just relax and have fun with
it.
8.
Karaoke Night: There’s nothing better than
singing your favorite duet with your bestie.
9.
Snowball fight: A great way to get outside and
have some fun in the snow!
10. Volunteer:
Find an organization with a mission you are passionate about or that works with
a population you’d like to help out. It’s a great way to feel like you are part
of something bigger than yourself and meet incredible new people along the way.
11. Camp
inside: Me and my sister had princess tents when we were really little and we
loved setting it up in our room and pretending that we were camping. Set up
your tent, grab your sleeping bags and flashlights and camp out in your living
room for the night.
12. Go
to a play or concert: Check out your local rec center, college or theater.
13. Homemade
Science Projects: There are a bunch of cool things you can make with things you
already have at home. Elephant toothpaste, eggshell crystals, fizzy balloon
inflator, homemade rock candy, homemade lava lamp – all require simple
household products and are super easy to make. My roommate and I had a lot of
fun with elephant toothpaste one night.
14. Make
your own movie. Write the script, have your cast dress up, film it, edit it and
enjoy the finished product.
15. Tea
party: Have everyone bring their favorite tea and make some fancy little
sandwiches. If you don’t like tea, have everyone bring some interesting drink
recipe (hot chocolate maybe?)
There are still plenty of ways to have lots of fun this
winter. Hopefully this list generated some ideas you!
